Our mission is to create a greener tomorrow.

Hi, we’re Peter and Dilhan, the founders of Gathera. Welcome to the wonderful world of indoor growing. We met on a university camp in our final year of uni. At the time we were both wondering how to solve a few different problems. Peter's friend had moved into an apartment and had no natural sunlight - and therefore couldn't grow her own food! At the same time, Dilhan had observed the 42% of bagged salad went to landfill in Australia - resulting in wasted food and unecessary single use plastic. To make matters worse, New South Wales was going through it's longest drought in recorded history, and agriculture was sucking up over 70% of the states fresh water. There had to be a solution, and we found it in hydroponic gardening.

We're a tiny but tight-knit team of gardening and sustainability enthusiasts who set out to change the way people grow food. Working in such a small company is incredibly tough - you wear multiple hats, constantly work in the grey area, live with an uncertain future, and are faced with the challenge of creating something out of nothing. Our staff are superheroes and we're lucky to have been able to work with every single one of them.

gathera empowers people to bring nature into their homes and grow their own food. We create easy to use, compact and high yield growing systems for both decorative plants and food.

It’s only been a few years since UPG was first created, but from little things big things grow. Over 35,000 people around the world are now growing indoors with our systems. We’ve been featured on TV, in newspapers and won awards like UTS Startup Of The Year. Most importantly, our growth has enabled us to invest in new products that help people harness the power of hydroponics in their homes, to grow food and eat better.

The response has been incredible and we owe it to our amazing community who love growing as much as us.

So whether you’re looking to start your indoor growing journey, or take it to the next level, we’re here for you. Help us bring nature into urban life, save food miles, reduce food waste and live a more sustainable life.

Come with us on this adventure! It’s going to be a lot of fun.
