Hydroponics generally refers to food that is grown in water and without soil, often featuring LED grow lights and hydroponic nutrients. The Hydroponic nutrients contain the optimal quantities of all of the minerals which are generally contained in soil such as those nutrients that plants consume in large quantities like nitrogen, potassium and phosphate, as well as those required in smaller quantities such as boron, magnesium and calcium.
The LED grow lights replicate the wavelengths of light that plants need to grow - which are primarily the red and blue spectrums. The result? Hydroponics grows food using 90% less water and 60% less space - often achieving better yields in the process. It provides the perfect environment for growing - better root aeration, consistent water supply, a powerful light supply and so on - all resulting in optimal plant growth.
The Indoor Smart Garden grows plants in smart soil instead of dirt. Smart Soil absorbs 3x its own weight in water, which it uniformly distributes throughout itself - allowing your plant to have consistent access to water, oxygen, and nutrients. The outcome of this is a mess-free solutionthat allows your kitchen to stay clean while your plants grow!

You can grow most small plants in this unit. We recommend herbs and leafy greens such as basil, coriander, parsley, or dill to begin with. We also recommend trying Lettuce, Lovage, Spinach or Thyme.
You need to add nutrients every time you refill once the plants germinate, usually once a month in the beginning, up to an average of once every 2 weeks (depending on the type of plant/temperature). Our suggested concentration ratios are:
These gardens are really nice. Because of the way they're made, they are very flexible too. If you don't like the lights that come with it, you can just take them off and put them away, leaving the body of the unit with 2 square plant pots in it to put under your own grow light, or on a windowsill if you like. I've had this kind of garden from another company, and the only downside I can see is that the covers for the planters aren't the same as theirs was. Theirs had 4 holes in each cover that would take a 1-inch net cup. So you could get an 8-pot system out of 1 of these gardens if you wanted to use just water and not growth medium. Perhaps UPG could sell those covers as well. I really like the vermiculite. I've never used it before, but on the strength of that, I've bought myself another bag so that I can use it instead of the coir which is good, but messy. Lovely little gardens, these.
Was given my Indoor Smart Garden as a gift and its the gift which keeps on giving!..just restocked with some basil snd coriander seeds and away we go again! .. the growing plants and LED light looks great!

Decided to trial the smallest smart garden. It was so easy to set up, and I absolutely love it! Now there will be coriander in everything!!!
I will Definately upgrade to a bigger model when the $$ allow, I love cooking with fresh herbs, but really don't like buying them from supermarkets. And this is so fun to watch.
Just bought a smart indoor garden to excite my 3yr old about cooking. He absolutely loves it and so do I. Easy to use and was sent a link for an easy to watch video to set up. It’s been just over a week and all my seeds are growing well. Looking forward to using them and already thinking of my next hydro kitchen setup.
Absolutely in love with my smart garden! Watching the seeds sprout and grow day by day brings a smile to my face each morning! Can’t wait to get another!
